What do you love about Mix? I love that Mix provides a fresh, new way for me to discover great content and share my own. My favorite feature is the “For You” content stream that shows me curated articles from people I follow as well as other web sites and blog posts about topics I’m interested in. I like how that view also shows collections that I might want to follow.
What inspired you to do what you're doing now: Many years ago I used to be a software developer. But I wanted to start a family and find a way to work from home and use my creativity. In 2005, my twin sister, my mother and I started working online running toy stores and in 2006 we also created our blog 5 Minutes for Mom. During the fall of 2011, we decided to close our stores and focus entirely on our blog. We are so blessed to be able to run this family lifestyle blog that allows us to work around our children’s schedules.
What's the best advice you've ever received? I think the best advice I’ve ever been given (and that I continually pass on to other bloggers) is to constantly adapt and ride the waves of change in the social media space. The toughest part about building a business in social media is that it is always changing. We must evolve with it.
Is there a blogger that you admire? Jessica Turner is such an inspiration to me. I’ve known her for years and she is the most sincere and hard working woman. She works full time in a high level social media role at a large organization, while also running a successful blog, writing multiple books, and parenting 3 adorable children. I truly do not know how she does it all. But what I love the most about Jessica is that she’s humble and kind. She’s always helping her fellow bloggers. You can find Jessica at The Mom Creative.
What tool if any do you love to help you crush the blogging game? I’d have to say PicMonkey. I’ve used PicMonkey ever since it launched and there’s rarely a day when I don’t have it open.
